Congregation Council
-
Matt McKelvie - President
My late parents raised 3 boys in the village of Alexis, Illinois. The youngest siblings are the best! My childhood church was Zion Lutheran in North Henderson where I was related to half the congregation, baptized, received the rite of confirmation and taught Sunday school. My only child, Ian, was also baptized there. Chicagoland was home for about 8 years until Florida’s fickle finger of fate moved me to Tampa. While living in Tampa, I attended Grace Lutheran and earned my BSEE degree from University of South Florida. In 1991 Texas Instruments invited me to join Defense Systems and Electronics Group (TI-DSEG). Resurrection became my church home because of our family-like atmosphere reminiscent of Zion Lutheran. It’s been my pleasure to serve in various roles at Resurrection: Chancel Choir, Stephen Ministries, Assistant Minister, HR committee, storyteller, acolyte, confirmation mentor, maintenance teammate and contributor to school supply, elderly home repair, angel tree, and holiday food delivery.

Jan Frum - Treasurer
Dale and I joined RLC in 1990 after transferring to Dallas from Houston with Mobil Oil. I am a life-long Lutheran and a native Texan. I attended the University of Texas in Austin and after graduating with a degree in Accounting I worked for Price Waterhouse where I earned my CPA. I later joined Mobil Oil and worked there for over 26 years before retiring in 2004. After six weeks of retirement, I went back to work for EXCO Resources for 10 years and have been doing consulting since leaving there. Dale and I have one grown son and three precious granddaughters. I currently serve as Altar Guild Coordinator, Assisting Minister, handbell choir member, and Worship Team member. I feel very blessed to be a part of this RLC family.

Sylvia Meyer - Secretary
I moved to Texas from Indiana in 1976 after my marriage. My husband Ron and I joined Resurrection Lutheran Church shortly thereafter. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Purdue University, and was employed by Plano ISD as a homebound teacher. After retirement I worked part time for several years for the school district. Currently I serve RLC as an assisting minister, offering counter, altar guild, and on the board of the Women of RLC. I also do some sewing with the Cover Girls. This is my first time serving on the Council, and I look forward to serving RLC as Secretary.

Becky Schuerman Choi - LIAISON for Serve ministries
I joined Resurrection in November 2017 and am now in my second 3-year term as the Serve Liaison. Aside from Council, I’m involved in the Sounds of Joy handbell choir, “God's work. Our hands” Sunday, ushering, blood drives, and you may find the Choi family in the kitchen hosting coffee hour. Our daughter, Greta, was confirmed at RLC. I was born and raised Lutheran in DeWitt, Nebraska; a graduate of Kansas State University and the University of Texas-Arlington; and served as the office manager of Elim Lutheran Church in lovely Petaluma, California before moving back to Texas. I work part-time in Plano’s Sustainability and Environmental Education Division with litter and recycling projects; and volunteer for the Plano West PTSA, Plano West Band Boosters, Plano ISD Council of PTAs, and so many litter cleanups for the Live Green in Plano program.

Sallie Diamond - Liaison for Ancillary Ministries
My husband and I moved with our son and daughter to Plano in March of 2000. In May we became involved in Troop 1000 which has been chartered by RLC since the church opened. We began attending church services and became active in various projects and activities, helping wherever we could. I became a committee member, committee chairman, and then charter organization representative of the Boy Scout troop. When Crew 1000 started, I became committee chair of the crew. I was also involved in starting Troop 3000 this past February 2019. At this time, I am the charter organization representative for Troop 1000, Crew 1000, Pack 1225, and Troop 3000. I continue to hold the position of Youth Protection Champion for the Chisholm Trail District of Circle Ten Council and have been training committee chairman. I am a Red Cross instructor, climbing instructor, and have attended and staffed on various Wood Badge leadership courses. Rick and I became members of the church and started helping with the youth groups and confirmation. I have received the Lutheran Servant to Youth medal and the Lutheran Lamb Award. I currently help with Sunday school sixth-eighth grade, confirmation, and RALLY. In August 2000, I started working for Plano ISD at Brinker Elementary School in the special education department as a para-professional. In 2003 I received my special education teacher certification. I currently teach a structured teach classroom working with a variety of students. Rick and I have decided that Plano will be our permanent home in retirement. I look forward to serving Resurrection and attracting new members to our wonderful congregation.
